The family-run farm, which is rightfully part of the Esaro sub-zone of the Terre di Cosenza PDO, was born out of the need to preserve centuries-old traditions of vine cultivation and the production of a straightforward ruby-red wine, in accordance with the customs of the territory of the Esaro river valley.

The company has a vineyard area of about 3 hectares, planted on land facing south-west (at about 150 metres above sea level), with full sunlight and a pedoclimatic situation characterised by the uncontaminated Pollino Massif Park and the presence of the Esaro valley, which crosses the nearby Sibari Plain and flows into the crystal-clear Ionian Sea to the east.

The vineyards consist of three grape varieties, among which Magliocco excels, flanked by Cabernet Sauvignon and white Montonico. The spurred cordon trellising system was created with a planting layout of 2.5 by 1.0 metres, with a density of 4,000 plants per hectare and is conducted according to the dictates of certified organic cultivation.

The farm’s location is in a highly vocated area in Contrada Stragolia Piccola di Spezzano Albanese, near an archaeological area of great value, home to the well-known Torre Mordillo and the Archaeological Park discovered in 1887 by Prof. Luigi Viola and site of a necropolis dating back to the Iron Age (first millennium B.C.), from whose excavations precious vestiges of an Oenotrian settlement have emerged.
